Sample Data Set:
Below you will find a complete Sample Data Set.  The first listing is for a sample FASTA file.  The sample data file is what a user can expect to receive back from either a sequencing lab or after using a program like FinchTV to call bases from a chromatogram.  This sample can be used simply to see what a complete FASTA file might look like.  It is our hope, though, that the beginning user will take advantage of this sample data and try running it through the Greengenes tools to:
  • Align
  • Do a chimeric check
  • Classify sequences
  • Make a tree to display the results.
Note:  Do not double click on these files to use them with Greengenes.  This is fine if you simply want to read through them.  However, to use them in Greengenes you first need to save them locally.  To do this, right click on the name of the file you want to work with and save the file to your desktop or a documents folder.  (For Mac users, Control + click.)  You will then select the document from wherever you save it with the "Browse" tool in the alignment, chimeric check and classification processes.
